Stovetop BBQ Chicken and Rice with Mushrooms

Measure out one cup of rice

Now rinse it, the water will be cloudy and you want to rinse until residue stops appearing the water and it looks pretty clear. Then if you have time, soak it for 20 mins up to a couple hours. It can soak while you prepare other ingredients. I also am adding a plash of acv to the water the rice is in. I am using long grain basmati rice.

Here it is after a few rinses.

I transferred it from my strainer back to the bowl and rinsed a few more times. Much clearer

Next I added the splash of acv and filled the container with water again to let it soak

While it soaked I measured out the spices and chopped some onion, mushroom, and a couple tomatillos. This is just what I had on hand. It could be tomatoes, garlic, canned/frozen veggies, other veggies or even no veggies.

Similarly the seasonings could be different or committed completely. I would at least use salt and maybe pepper unless you are trying to make a totally plain rice or rice pudding.
